Authors who are not registered members of The Operating Room Global are required to pay the applicable Article Processing Charge (APC) after their manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

There is no charge to submit a manuscript.

Standard peer review does not attract a separate fee.

Standard formatting, DOI assignment, and open-access hosting are included in the publication process.

APCs for non-members are tiered by eligible country-income grouping.

Non-members may apply for one APC waiver per calendar year, subject to eligibility, editorial approval, and funding availability.

Before submitting, authors should ensure that the manuscript, cover letter, ethical documentation, declarations, and all applicable supporting materials are complete and ready for editorial assessment.

Authors should prepare all required files before opening the submission form to reduce delays during initial editorial screening.

Full manuscript in Microsoft Word format, including the title page, abstract, main text, references, tables, and figures within one document.

Cover letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief, confirming the manuscript’s originality, relevance, and submission status.

Ethical approval documentation where applicable to the study design.

Informed consent documentation or statement where required for human participants, identifiable patient information, or case reports.

Trial or review registration information where applicable to the study or review type.

Manuscripts should be clear, consistently formatted, professionally presented, and structured appropriately for the selected article type before submission.

All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. UK or US English may be used, but authors should use one form consistently throughout the manuscript. Authors who are not native English speakers are encouraged to seek appropriate language editing before submission.

Presentation Standards

Figures, Tables & References

High-quality figures, editable tables, accurate citations, and consistent referencing are essential for clear scientific communication and efficient editorial production.

Visual Materials

Figures & Tables

All figures and tables should be clear, relevant, appropriately labelled, and cited within the manuscript in the order in which they appear.

Figures should be provided in high resolution of at least 300 dpi.

Accepted figure formats are JPEG or PNG.

Tables must remain editable and should not be pasted as images.

Each figure and table should be cited within the manuscript text.

Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively.

Provide a clear descriptive caption or legend for every figure and table.

Citation Style

References

TORGJ uses the Vancouver numerical referencing system. Authors are responsible for checking every citation and reference for completeness and accuracy.

Use Vancouver numerical referencing style.

In-text references should be cited using superscript numbers.

Number references in the order in which they first appear in the manuscript.

The reference list should follow the same numerical order used within the text.

Include DOIs for online articles where available.

Include an appropriate URL for online sources where applicable.

Accuracy matters

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work meets applicable ethical, authorship, reporting, and research-governance standards before submission.

Ethical Approval

Research involving human participants should have appropriate approval from a recognised ethics committee or institutional review board where required.

Responsible Authorship

All listed authors should meet recognised authorship criteria, approve the final manuscript, and accept responsibility for their contribution to the work.

Independent Peer Review

Eligible manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise.

Ethical Considerations

Research Involving Humans, Animals, Trials & Reviews

Authors should provide all applicable ethical, governance, consent, and registration information within the manuscript and submission materials.

Research involving human participants should include the name of the approving ethics committee or IRB, approval/reference number where available, and confirmation of appropriate ethical approval.

Informed consent should be obtained where required, including for identifiable patient information, images, or case reports.

Clinical trials should include appropriate prospective registration information where applicable.

Systematic reviews and related evidence syntheses should provide registration details where applicable.

Animal research should comply with relevant institutional, national, and internationally accepted animal-welfare and research-ethics standards.

Authors should disclose funding sources, conflicts of interest, and any other relevant relationships that may influence the work.

TORGJ expects authorship to reflect substantial scholarly contribution, accountability, and approval of the final work.

Authors should meet recognised ICMJE authorship criteria.

All authors must approve the final submitted manuscript.

All authors should accept accountability for the integrity of the work.

Contributions should be described transparently.

Use of the CRediT contributor taxonomy is encouraged where appropriate.

Guest, honorary, and ghost authorship are not acceptable.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass initial editorial assessment proceed through TORGJ’s structured double-blind peer-review process.

Double-blind peer review is used.

Manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers where applicable.

Reviewers are selected on the basis of relevant expertise.

Authors receive reviewer and editorial feedback where revision is required.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers where necessary.

Final publication decisions remain with the editorial team.

Following editorial assessment and peer review, authors may receive one of several standard decisions depending on the quality, relevance, and revision needs of the manuscript.
