The Operating Room Global Journal (TORGJ)
The Operating Room Global Journal (TORGJ) is dedicated to the unrestricted global dissemination of knowledge in perioperative and surgical sciences. We believe that open access accelerates discovery, enhances equity, and ensures that knowledge generated within all regions can benefit the entire global community.
All content published in TORGJ is freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. There are no subscription fees or reading restrictions, allowing clinicians, researchers, educators, and policymakers to access, share, and reuse research findings without barriers.
1. Open Access Statement
- TORGJ operates under a diamond and inclusive open access model, supporting both APC-free publication for active members of The Operating Room Global (TORG) and low, equitable APCs for non-members.
- All published articles are freely available on the journal’s website and can be accessed without registration or payment.
- There are no charges for article submission, peer review, color figures, or access to published content.
- This approach aligns with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and the Plan S principles of open research dissemination.
2. Licensing and Reuse
All articles in TORGJ are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Under this license, users are free to:
- Share – copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt – remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially
Provided that:
- Appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source.
- A link to the Creative Commons license is provided.
- Indication is made if any changes were made.

Each published article clearly displays the CC BY 4.0 logo and full citation information on both the web version and downloadable PDF.
3. Copyright Ownership
- Authors retain full copyright and intellectual ownership of their work.
- Upon submission and acceptance, authors grant The Operating Room Global Centre for Education, Research & Innovation a non-exclusive license to publish, archive, and distribute the article in all forms and media.
- This ensures that authors maintain control of their work while allowing TORGJ to make it publicly accessible worldwide.
4. Article Processing Charges (APC) and Membership Benefits
TORGJ is committed to reducing financial barriers for authors from all backgrounds and regions.
- Active TORG Members:
All active, registered members of The Operating Room Global (TORG) are entitled to unlimited APC-free publications in TORGJ during their membership period. - Non-Members:
Non-member authors pay a modest one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) after acceptance, based on the World Bank country income classification. - Waivers and Discounts:
One APC waiver per calendar year may be granted to non-members who meet eligibility criteria, subject to editorial approval and available funding. - There are no hidden fees for submission, peer review, DOI assignment, or online hosting.
This structure sustains TORGJ’s open-access operations while promoting global inclusion and collaboration.

5. Author Self-Archiving and Repository Policy
TORGJ fully supports author self-archiving to enhance visibility and impact. Authors may deposit:
- Preprint versions (before peer review)
- Accepted manuscripts (after peer review but before typesetting)
- Final published PDFs (publisher’s version)
Deposits may be made in:
- Institutional repositories
- Subject-based repositories (e.g., PubMed Central, Zenodo)
- Personal or organizational websites
There is no embargo period for self-archiving. All archived versions must cite The Operating Room Global Journal as the original publication and include the CC BY 4.0 license statement.
6. Digital Preservation and Archiving
To guarantee long-term accessibility and digital preservation:
- All published content is archived in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and supported by LOCKSS/CLOCKSS initiatives.
- DOIs are registered via Crossref, ensuring persistent linking and citation reliability.
- In the unlikely event that TORGJ ceases publication, all articles will remain permanently accessible through these preservation networks.
7. Commercial Use and Derivative Works
TORGJ encourages broad use and adaptation of its content to enhance research dissemination and educational impact.
Commercial use, translation, and derivative works are permitted under the CC BY 4.0 license, provided full and accurate attribution is made to the original authors and journal.

The views and opinions expressed in TORGJ articles are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of The Operating Room Global Centre for Education, Research & Innovation or the Editorial Board.
The publisher and editors are not responsible for any loss, damage, or liability arising from the use of published materials.
9. Policy Review
This Open Access and Copyright Policy is reviewed annually by the Editorial Board and Publisher to ensure continued compliance with global open-access standards and evolving ethical frameworks.
