Open Access & Copyright Policy
The Operating Room Global Journal (TORGJ) is committed to the unrestricted global dissemination of knowledge in surgical, perioperative, anaesthesia, nursing, allied-health, research, education, innovation, and related fields. Published articles are made freely and permanently accessible online so that research can be read, shared, reused, and built upon without subscription barriers.
Published articles are available without subscription or reader payment.
Reuse and adaptation are permitted with appropriate attribution.
Authors retain ownership while granting TORGJ the necessary publication rights.
Eligible versions may be self-archived in accordance with journal policy.
Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International
TORGJ articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence, allowing sharing and adaptation, including commercial reuse, provided appropriate credit is given, the licence is identified, and changes are indicated where applicable.
Readers do not need to register, subscribe, or pay to access standard TORGJ published articles. Open access is separate from any APC that may apply to an author after manuscript acceptance.
TORGJ Open-Access Model
TORGJ provides immediate open access to published scholarly content while maintaining an equitable publication model designed to support authors across different professional and resource settings.
Immediate Free Access
Readers may access standard TORGJ published articles online without subscription, registration, institutional login, or reader payment. Open access begins at the point of publication and is not subject to an embargo.
Equitable Publication Pathways
Author publication arrangements depend on eligibility under the journal’s APC policy. These arrangements concern the cost of publication only and do not alter the open-access status, licence, editorial standards, or discoverability of the published article.
APC-Free Publication
Eligible authors with active registered TORG membership and a valid Membership ID may publish APC-free during their active membership period, subject to the journal’s current eligibility rules. Membership does not confer preferential editorial treatment or guarantee acceptance.
Tiered Article Processing Charges
Where an APC applies, non-member rates are structured according to the journal’s current country-income classification schedule. Payment becomes applicable only after formal manuscript acceptance, and eligible authors may request waiver consideration under the journal’s APC policy.
What Open Access Means at TORGJ
The publication-payment status of an author does not determine how readers access or reuse a published article.
Whether an author publishes APC-free, pays the applicable APC, receives a partial waiver, or receives a full waiver must not influence manuscript screening, peer review, revision requirements, acceptance, rejection, licensing, or the subsequent open-access status of the published work.
CC BY 4.0 Licence & Permitted Reuse
Unless otherwise stated for specific third-party material, TORGJ articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence, which permits broad reuse while requiring appropriate attribution to the original work.
Appropriate Attribution Is Required
Reuse under CC BY 4.0 should provide sufficient information for readers to identify the original work and understand the terms under which it was reused.
Third-Party Material May Have Different Rights
Not every image, table, figure, dataset, quotation, or other item appearing within an open-access article is necessarily owned by the article authors or covered by the article’s Creative Commons licence.
The CC BY 4.0 licence permits adaptation, but attribution should not be presented in a way that falsely suggests that the original authors, TORGJ, its editors, or its publisher approve, sponsor, or endorse a modified work, product, organisation, conclusion, or commercial use.
Authors Retain Copyright
TORGJ does not require authors to transfer ownership of copyright in order to publish. Authors retain copyright in their work while granting the journal the rights necessary to publish, identify, distribute, preserve, and maintain the scholarly record.
Copyright Ownership Remains With the Author
Subject to any legitimate rights held by employers, funders, institutions, co-authors, or third parties, authors retain copyright ownership in their original scholarly work after publication in TORGJ.
Non-Exclusive Publishing Rights
By agreeing to publication, authors authorise TORGJ to publish the article as the journal’s version of record and to reproduce, distribute, display, preserve, archive, index, register metadata for, and otherwise communicate the work as required for scholarly publishing.
Rights Needed to Maintain the Published Record
The rights granted to TORGJ are non-exclusive and are intended to enable publication and long-term stewardship of the scholarly article rather than transfer copyright ownership away from the author.
Authors Must Have Rights to Material They Submit
Authors are responsible for ensuring that figures, images, tables, instruments, substantial quotations, datasets, photographs, patient-related material, or other third-party content included in a submission may lawfully be published. Where permission is required, authors should obtain it before publication and provide evidence to TORGJ when requested. Third-party content that is not covered by the article’s CC BY 4.0 licence should be identified appropriately.
Open licensing does not remove the obligation to credit creators accurately. Reusers should preserve appropriate attribution and should not falsely attribute altered content, misrepresent the authors’ conclusions, or imply endorsement by an author, TORGJ, or the publisher where none exists. Any moral rights recognised under applicable law remain subject to that law.
Self-Archiving & Repository Rights
TORGJ supports responsible self-archiving and wider dissemination of scholarly work. Authors may deposit eligible manuscript versions and the published article in appropriate repositories and online platforms in accordance with the journal’s open-access policy.
Preprint
Authors may ordinarily share the version of the manuscript prepared before formal peer review, subject to appropriate disclosure that it has not yet undergone TORGJ peer review.
Accepted Manuscript
The author-accepted version following peer review may be deposited or shared, with appropriate identification of its status and citation to the final published article once available.
Version of Record
The final TORGJ-published article may be shared and deposited in accordance with its CC BY 4.0 licence, subject to appropriate attribution and any separate rights applying to third-party material.
Where Authors May Deposit Their Work
Subject to the applicable version and rights, authors may make their work available through appropriate scholarly and professional channels.
Clearly Identify the Version Being Shared
Preprints and accepted manuscripts should not be presented as though they are the final TORGJ-published version. Once the article has been published, authors are encouraged to update repository records with the formal citation and DOI and, where appropriate, indicate that a later version of record is available through TORGJ.
Authors should check whether any figure, photograph, instrument, dataset, table, substantial quotation, or other third-party material included in the article is subject to separate copyright or licence restrictions before depositing or redistributing that material.
Digital Preservation & Long-Term Access
TORGJ recognises that publication creates a continuing scholarly record. The journal therefore seeks to maintain reliable access to published articles, publication metadata, DOI records, and relevant post-publication notices over time.
Continued Availability
Published articles should remain accessible through the journal platform and other lawful scholarly dissemination channels wherever reasonably possible.
Persistent DOI Records
DOI registration and article metadata support persistent identification and continued discovery of TORGJ publications even if web locations change.
Version-of-Record Stewardship
TORGJ seeks to maintain a clear authoritative version of each published article together with any later correction, expression of concern, or retraction notice.
Accurate Publication Information
Article titles, authorship, DOI, journal details, dates, licensing information, and relevant status information should be maintained accurately.
Distributed Scholarly Access
Author self-archiving, institutional repositories, lawful scholarly repositories, and other permitted copies can contribute to continued access to the published research.
Ongoing Preservation Review
TORGJ may adopt or update preservation mechanisms as its publishing infrastructure develops and as appropriate long-term archiving options become available.
Preserving the Version of Record
The published TORGJ article represents the journal’s version of record. Preservation therefore includes maintaining not only the article itself but also its publication status and relationship to any later post-publication notice.
Long-Term Access Is Supported in Several Ways
Preservation is broader than keeping a single webpage online. TORGJ supports continuity through a combination of publishing, metadata, archiving, repository, and post-publication-record practices.
TORGJ may participate in additional repository, preservation, or archiving services as its publishing infrastructure develops. Specific third-party preservation services should be described on this policy page only where participation is active and can be verified.
Commercial Reuse, Permissions & Third-Party Rights
The CC BY 4.0 licence permits broad reuse of TORGJ open-access content, including commercial reuse, provided the licence conditions are followed. Separate permission may still be required for material that is not covered by the article’s Creative Commons licence.
Commercial Publication
TORGJ content covered by CC BY 4.0 may be reused in commercial books, journals, reports, platforms, training materials, and other publications, subject to proper attribution.
Educational Products
Content may be incorporated into paid or unpaid educational programmes, courses, presentations, teaching materials, and learning resources in accordance with CC BY 4.0.
Adaptation & Translation
Reusers may adapt, translate, abridge, transform, or build upon licensed TORGJ material, provided changes are identified and attribution remains clear.
Digital Platforms
Licensed content may be redistributed through websites, repositories, applications, databases, digital learning systems, and other platforms subject to the licence conditions.
Data & Text Reuse
Textual content covered by the licence may be reused for lawful analysis, synthesis, teaching, research, and other purposes consistent with applicable copyright and data-protection law.
Credit the Original Work
Commercial status does not remove the obligation to credit the original authors, identify the source, reference the licence, and indicate changes where applicable.
Material That May Require Separate Rights Assessment
Users should check article captions, credit lines, supplementary files, and source information before assuming that all components are covered by CC BY 4.0.
Reusers may not represent their adapted or commercial product as being endorsed, approved, sponsored, certified, or recommended by the original authors, TORGJ, its editors, or its publisher unless explicit permission for such endorsement has been given separately.

Editorial and peer review are quality-assurance processes and do not constitute a guarantee that published content is free from error.
Users Must Assess Their Intended Reuse
Users are responsible for complying with CC BY 4.0, identifying any third-party rights, respecting privacy, confidentiality, trademark, database, ethical, or other applicable legal requirements, and ensuring that reuse does not misrepresent the original work or imply endorsement where none exists.
