Authors Guidelines


The Operating Room Global Journal (TORGJ) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to the advancement of multidisciplinary surgical and perioperative care. We welcome submissions from across the fields of surgery, Anesthesiology, perioperative nursing, critical care, surgical technology, allied health, management sciences, infection control, policy, and innovation.

All manuscripts are subject to peer review, ethical checks, and editorial revision.

Submission Process

Manuscripts checklist must first be completed online via The TORG Journal website and afterwards all supporting documentations can be emailed to [email protected]. Ensure your manuscript complies with these guidelines before uploading.

  1. Subject Line Format
    • To expedite processing, use the following email subject line format:

Manuscript Preparation

1. Language

All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English (UK or US, consistently). Authors who are non-native speakers are encouraged to seek professional language editing.

2. Format

  • File Type: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Line Spacing: 1.5
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) all around
  • Page Numbers: Bottom right corner

3. Structure

Original Research Articles

  • Title Page
  • Abstract (≤250 words, structured)
  • Keywords (3–6)
  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements (if applicable)
  • References
  • Tables and Figures (with legends)

Review Articles

  • Title Page
  • Abstract (≤250 words, unstructured)
  • Introduction
  • Body (thematically or chronologically organized)
  • Conclusion

4. Title Page

Include:

  • Full manuscript title
  • Author(s) full names, affiliations
  • Corresponding author (name, email, mailing address, ORCID)
  • Word count (excluding abstract, tables, references)

5. Abstract and Keywords

An informative abstract of ≤250 words must precede the main text. Original Research articles require a structured abstract (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion).

Provide 3–6 keywords using MeSH terms where possible.

Figures and Tables

  • All figures should be submitted in high resolution (≥300 dpi, JPEG or PNG).
  • Tables should be editable, not pasted as images.
  • Each figure/table should be cited in the text and numbered consecutively.
  • Provide descriptive captions for each.

References

  • Use Vancouver (numerical) referencing style.
  • Cite in-text using superscript numbers (e.g., Smith et al.¹).
  • List references in the order of appearance.
  • Include DOIs or URLs for online articles where available.

Example:

  1. Smith J, Oloyede F. Innovations in global surgery. TORG J. 2025;1(1):1-10. doi:10.1234/torgj.v1i1.001

Ethical Considerations

  • All research involving human subjects must include a statement on ethical approval and informed consent.
  • Clinical trials must be registered (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov).
  • For animal studies, follow institutional and international guidelines.
  • The journal follows the COPE guidelines for publication ethics.

Authorship and Contributions

Only individuals who meet the ICMJE authorship criteria should be listed. Use CRediT taxonomy to describe each author’s contribution.

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.

Decisions may be:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

Authors will receive detailed feedback and may appeal editorial decisions via written explanation.

Open Access & Licensing

TORGJ is an open-access journal, and all content is freely available.

We publish under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction provided the original author and source are credited.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

TORGJ currently offers waived or reduced APCs for select authors and low- and middle-income countries. Details available on www.torgjournal.org  and will be provided upon acceptance.

Plagiarism and Originality

All manuscripts are screened for Plagiarism using Turnitin, duplicate publication, and unethical conduct will result in rejection or retraction.

Post-Acceptance & Publication

  • Accepted articles are copyedited, proofed, and published online first.
  • A digital object identifier (DOI) is assigned to each article.
  • Authors must approve final proofs before publication.
